This unique HIP HOP MUSIC CAMP debuted during the Summer of 2009!
Check back in the Spring of 2011 for information about the 2011 camp!
2010 INFORMATION: All campers gain experience for several days in all four areas before focusing on a single area of creative study. Teamwork, language skills, rhythmic ability, computer skills, expression through movement, and music production are just some of the benefits of this innovative camp as campers create positive message Rap/Hip Hop music and dance productions later showcased during the Final Camper Concert!

WES CRAWFORD- Camp Director and Percussion Instructor; After touring for eleven years with Jazz/R&B song stylist Jane L. Powell (see http://www.JaneLPowell.com), Wes settled into the Baltimore-Washington, DC region where he freelances on drumset and percussion and teaches privately and at Goucher College. Wes serves as Vice-President of the MD/DE chapter of the Percussive Arts Society and directs the Drumset And Percussion Camp of the Goucher Summer Arts Institute. LIZ MILLER- Hip Hop Dance Instructor; Liz is a successful choreographer who relocated to Baltimore from Michigan in 2008. She previously headed up the entire Hip Hop division for Hearts in Step Christian Dance Studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan and single handedly pioneered the Christian Hip Hop Dance Team at Cornerstone University, where she was enrolled. Liz captained this continuously growing team for six years while keeping it centered on Christ. Meanwhile Liz also taught a homeschool ministry at her home church and helped to start a dance program at the David D. Hunting YMCA. All the while, she also networked between the various ministries she was involved in to bring dance to her church, Madison Square Christian Reformed Church, enriching the church services with Hip Hop and lyrical dance. Since arriving in Baltimore, Liz has choreographed children's productions and full-scale Christmas and Easter pageants for Bethany Lane Baptist Church of Ellicott City. Liz has also joined the Y of Central Maryland, Unchained Talent, and A Step Ahead Dance Center, and she is always looking for new opportunities to create redeeming dance for the kingdom of God. MIKE BIRNBAUM is an experienced percussionist, producer, and recent graduate of The Hartt School of Music. Mike's many musical projects include his "thrash blues" band 2 Ton Bug (myspace.com/2tonbug) and his solo "homespun electronic pop" outfit D. Gookin (myspace.com/dgookin). Notably, D. Gookin had a song in an Oil of Olay commercial in 2009. With a passion for recording and producing all things experimental, pop, hip hop, and rock, Mike plans to expand the campers' knowledge of technology in music and composition. |
